This research is about the design practice, and not technology - so you are not required to have experience with Machinle Learning or Internet of Things.

What is the purpose of this research project?

The ultimate aim of this research is to find ways to aid designers to humanise the use of machine learning in the design of user experiences for the Consumer Internet of Things. This particular study concentrates on gathering feedback on formally documented patterns.

Join UX designers from all over the world and add your contribution to this pioneering study.

How can I get involved?

We encourage everyone involved in UX design for more than 5 years to join this study.
Unfortunately, due to limited capacity, the slots for the workshop will be allocated o a first-come, first-served basis.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Complete the assessment survey

The survey takes less than 3 minutes to complete. You don't need to have experience in machine learning or Internet of Things to join this research study.

2. Let us know your availability

If you qualify, you will be asked to participate in a short online workshop. By the way, the setup is very informal! We will get in touch to agree the most suitable time for your session.

3. Commit to participate

We are committed to accommodating as much as logistically possible around your availability. In return, once the date and time has been agreed, all we ask is your serious commitment in attending the session.

What happens in the workshop

In this short, one-to-one workshop, you will initially be asked to use one or more UX patterns. Afterwards we will discuss different aspects around the use of these patterns.

Where will it happen

Your session will be conducted fully remotely, with initial contact to organise it made through whatever contact means you share.
